Capetonians have the pleasure of enjoying the beautiful summer days with the best ice cream on the continent. I've narrowed down the Top 5 ice-cream spots in town - you can thank me later!
1st - The Creamery (every month they have a new flavor to try, so you have no excuse to try every flavor - my personal favorite branch of 'The Creamery' is the one situated in the V&A Waterfront Food Market).
2nd - Moro Gelato (We know that Italians is known for their ice-cream - their gelato is freshly made with local produce and spices and their vegan friendly sorbet is a must! They are at the Oranjezicht City Farm Market at the V&A Waterfront on Sundays).
3rd - De Villiers Chocolate (The cafe offers chocolate and ice-cream tasting. Once you've tried the ice cream - take a chocolate salami, dark chocolate pizza or a bag of spicy drinking chocolate beans home. Who needs to be on a diet.... anyway? You can find them when you visit the idyllic Franshoek Valley).
4th - Ice Dream (These guys made their ice cream with love, no preservatives, no flavourants, no colorants or added fats.... only the finest ingredients are welcome. Established in 1993 the brother and sister-run gelateria has won over many Capetonians and visitors to Hout Bay).
5th - One of my favorite ice cream shops - Uncle Barrys Ice Cream in Gordons Bay known for their huge portions and economical prices - you can treat your kids and the neighbors kids and the best part of it all - Bikini Beach is just a glance away - no mess - you can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets over False Bay - with ice cream).
